Help for Heroes has announced that there will be another Colossal Cake Sale in 2012. This year’s event will take place between Monday, March 26 and Saturday, April 7.
Anyone with a sweet (or savoury) tooth can get involved. Last year, amazingly, 184 communities throuout the UK registered and donned their aprons, grabbed their wooden spoons and got baking to support wounded heroes. It is a great way to get involved whether you join in and bake, or whether you simply buy.
Help the charity to make it even bigger and better in 2012 and join in by holding an event locally. Cakes and other goodies, sweet or savoury, can be sold in schools, workplaces, market stalls and shopping centres, showing that you don’t need to do a sporty challenge to do your bit for the wounded war veterans.
The Colossal Cake Sale has grown amazingly since the first one in 2008, when only seven events were registered and the charity hopes to see this growth continue in 2012 with even more communities getting together to help our heroes on the road to recovery.
Register your event by visiting www.helpforheroes.org.uk/events/bake-a-cake-2012.
Emma Parry, CEO and co-founder, Help for Heroes, said: “H4H is all about ‘doing your bit’ and this event is a wonderful example of people rallying support and having fun while they raise money for a wonderful cause. We have been able to use the £126 million raised for the charity, to provide practical and direct support to those wounded in the current conflicts.
“The money you raise is needed, it is being used and it is hugely appreciated.”
On registering fundraisers will receive a Colossal Cake Sale fundraising pack to help make each event a success, including bunting, balloons and stickers and recipes. Don’t forget there’s a whole host of cake baking-related Help for Heroes merchandise available on the website, from cake tins to aprons and cake picks.
