Kemnay hallkeeper calls it a day after 18 years’ service
Marion McGhie, who has retired after 18 years as hallkeeper at Kemnay
THE HALLKEEPER in Kemnay for nearly twenty years has called it a day.
Marion McGhie has retired after looking after the village hall and the various groups that use it for the past 18 years.
Last night (Wednesday) a special event was organised in the hall to mark her departure.
Marion actually retired at the end of last year but has stayed on to show the new hallkeeper the ropes.
She said: “It was seven days a week sometimes but I have throughly enjoyed it and have met so many people over the years.
“Originally it was a hall and friendship shop but then the extension was built and it’s really grown since then.
“I have had a good working relationship with the committee over the years and that has been important.”
Village hall administrator Janet Newbury said they would be sorry to see Marion leaving.
“Eighteen years is a long time and we will be sad to see Marion go. She has been very popular with the groups and organisations using the hall.”
