Time to get involved with 2013 Peterhead Relay for Life event

PREPARATIONS are already well underway for this year’s Peterhead Relay for Life.

The annual Blue Toon event is the most successful Relay for Life event in the UK.

Thanks to the support of local communities it has raised a staggering £650,000 for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work over the past seven years.

This year’s event kicks off at 11am on Saturday, July 6 until 11am on the Sunday when teams will walk round Lord Catto Park in a relay format.

Teams can all walk together, in pairs, individually, or can even run if they are feeling energetic but there must be at least one member of each team on the track at any one time.

There will also be a festival of entertainment through the Relay for Life and activities to keep everyone amused during a truly remarkable 24 hours.

The Survivors Lap and the Candle of Hope ceremony are incredibly touching reminder of why we need Relay for Life. For further information visit the website http://relay.cancerresearchuk.org.

Meanwhile, Relay for Life Peterhead would be delighted to hear from any businesses or individuals who would consider becoming part of this event through sponsorship, donations, gifts in kind or any other assistance which may be offered.

The new committee also has vacancies in catering, Candle of Hope and Cancer Awareness and would welcome anyone interested in becoming involved in Relay 2013. It will be hosting an open night from 7.30pm on Thursday, February 28 at the Buchanhaven Hearts Social Club for anyone interested in finding out more.
