Heather scoops charity raffle top prize for second time

A KINTORE woman could not believe her luck after winning a new car for the second time in a charity raffle.

CLAN Cancer Support ensured 2012 got off to a fantastic start for Heather Lovie, 50, from Kintore, after her name was selected for a Mini First from the 57,000 tickets sold during 2011.

Heather had preciously won a Mini Metro in a charity raffle around 20 years ago. Her latest win came after she bought £5 worth of tickets in the run up to Christmas.

Heather said: “I am always very keen to support local charities which carry out such great work in our local community. CLAN is very close to my heart as the charity’s Haven facility has provided a great deal of care, comfort and support to my niece during the past few years. She always speaks extremely highly of the work of those within the charity and I am always keen to do whatever I can to ensure the charity can continue to carry out its valuable work.

“I saw the car while doing some Christmas shopping in the Bon Accord Centre in Aberdeen but I never thought I would be lucky enough to hold the winning ticket. To win a big prize, like a car, is just amazing, but to win one twice in your life is so unexpected.”

Susan Crighton, fundraising manager at CLAN Cancer Support, said: “When Heather told me she had won a car previously I couldn’t believe her luck. We wish her and her family many happy miles of motoring.

“The support we have received over the course of the year, taking the Mini to numerous community events throughout the North-east, has been fantastic. We have been extremely lucky to have the continued support of TAQA Bratani, which for something as important as the Mini raffle means a great deal to us.”

CLAN Cancer Support is an independent charity which offers support to anyone affected by cancer. Based in Aberdeen, the charity covers the whole of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland. CLAN is also developing services in the community and now has a presence in Inverurie, Ballater, Peterhead, Stonehaven, Orkney and Shetland.
