The Rotary Club Of Oldmeldrum is inviting everyone to come and join them on their charity Santa Fun Run/Walk on Sunday, December 2 at Haddo Country Park.

The run, which has become a favourite seasonal event in the North East, will see a range of fun contests for all ages taking part.

In addition to the 5km run for those aged 13 years and over which begins at 1pm, there is a 2km run for those aged 12 and under beginning at 12 noon.

A 5km family walk will also take place.

Entry fees are £12 for the 5km run for 13’s and over; £3 for the kids’ 2km run; and for those taking part in the family walk, £10 per adult and £3 for 13’s and under.

While everyone is encouraged to wear something festive, free Santa suits will be provided for the first 200 participants aged 13 and over.

Half of the sponsorship money raised by runners and walkers can go to their own designated charity, while half will go to the “STV Appeal 2012”, which is helping children and young people in Scotland who are affected by poverty.

Entry and sponsorship forms are available for download on the Oldmeldrum Rotary Club website www.oldmeldrumrotary.org.uk, or from the Running Shop at www.TheRunningShop.uk.com.

Rotary spokesman Richard Thomson told the Times: “This is a very worthwhile event for a very good cause, and we would encourage as many people as possible to take part.

“We are hoping for a good turnout on the day.”
