Haddo House Choral and Operatic Society have got their fingers crossed for a return of some winter snow falls, in the hope that they will coincide with their planned ‘Snow Ball’ dance.
The event, which takes place at Haddo Hall on 4 February, has been a feature of the local social calendar for over 50 years.
“We are probably in the minority, but we really don’t mind a flurry of snow on the night. It makes for a great atmosphere!” said Kim Davidson, from the Haddo Snow Ball Committee.
This year the Frank Thompson Band will again lead the evening’s entertainment. Added attractions will be the prospect of of whisky tasting and luxury hamper raffles during the course of the night.
“We believe that the mainstays of a great evening at Haddo are good music, good food and good dancing – and the Snow Ball has all of these” added Kim. “People come back to the Ball year after year – and yet every year we welcome new guests. It’s a really friendly community event”.
The friendly atmosphere begins right at the start of the evening. Guests are welcomed with a complimentary glass of mulled wine, and the night ends with soup and butteries before they make their journey home. And in the hours in-between they will have enjoyed an excellent meal followed by dancing within the unique surroundings of the Haddo Hall.
