Exhibition will roll back the years

THIS month’s exhibit at the Acorn Centre Gallery in Inverurie is described as “a bit different from our more usual paintings and drawings” by gallery co-ordinator, Liz Young.

It will turn back the clock to pop from yesteryear. Billy Wright, who describes himself as a “a semi retired ‘young’ pensioner” will be exhibiting from his collection of Rock and Pop Memorabilia.

He said, “I’ve been gathering stuff for more than 30 years, consisting of musical instruments, records, CD’s, videos, books and pictures and, as my wife can confirm, lots of other things.

“Over the last few years, I have been very interested in Beatles items.

“We have been to Liverpool and done the Beatles tour of their original houses and places connected to them and a visit to the rebuilt Cavern club.

“Also we have been to Abbey Road in London and outside the Dakota buildings in New York where John Lennon was murdered in December 1980.

“I had an exhibition of Beatles memorabilia in the Inverurie West Church Acorn Centre last February and I am there again this February, starting on Tuesday, February 7.

“It is mainly of pictures I have gathered over the years and most of them I have framed myself and they are all for sale to anyone who is interested.

“Feel welcome to come along and have a look and maybe bring back some memories.”

The exhibition of Billy’s Rock and Pop Memorabilia will run from Tuesday, February 7, to Saturday, March 3.
