THE latest stage in the revival of an Aberdeenshire coffee shop was reached on Friday.(February 17).
A new-look coffee bar opened in Kemnay Village Hall giving traditional Friday morning activities a boost.
The coffee shop was relaunched in May last year after a dip in interest and has gone from strength to strength.
Liz Mackay, a community learning and development worker in Kemnay, said: “The village hall used to run a coffee shop on a Friday morning but that closed simply due dwindling numbers.
“The hall committee were keen to get it back up and running to get people in using the building. It’s a chance for groups to get together as well as individuals.
“Friday mornings are a big thing again and there are always new things being identified.”
Liz, who praised the efforts of volunteers, added: “It’s a vehicle for doing specific events. We have had stalls and we sometimes have a market place where people can have a stall and promote whatever they want to promote.”
The coffee bar is part of hall extension which was built around 13 years ago.
Liz said: “It’s a tribute to everyone really. It’s been revitalised by making it a cheerier place.”
Hall committee member Vera Walker, a stalwart of the Friday morning activities, said she was delighted to see the new coffee bar up and running.
