An INVERURIE-BASED drama group has launched an appeal for help in locating props for this year’s production.

Spotlight Theatre, formerly the Garioch Players, are putting on “Move Over Mrs Markham” in May.

The set consists of two separate rooms on view at all times - the Markhams’ living room and the bedroom in their flat in 1960s London.

They are on the look-out for arresting 60s-style furniture and other items related to that time.

In particular the group are hunting for a two-seater sofa that would have been thought of as very “modern” in the 1960s.

The same goes for a chair, which does not have to match the sofa, and a desk for the living room.

Director Laurence Young said they had been successful in their appeals for a candlewick bedspread and were keen to hear from anyone who could provide, or suggest how they could obtain, the other props.

He added: “The set is in 1960s London and is in two rooms - a living room and a bedroom. We had been looking for a candlewick bedspread but we had a response for that.

“We are looking for a two-seater sofa and a chair, although it doesn’t have to match the sofa. We would be delighted to hear from anyone that can help us out.”

Spotlight Theatre’s “Move Over Mrs Markham” will be performed on May 17,18, 19 in Inverurie Town Hall. The group holds rehearsals in Inverurie Academy.

If you think you could lend or donate any of the items needed, contact Laurence Young on (01467) 622889.
