Organisers of the Methlick Bonfire and Fireworks have had to cancel the event due to unforseen licence problems.

The event was scheduled to take place tomorrow (Saturday).

However alternative bonfire and firework displays will be held on Saturday, November 5 at Oldmeldrum Pleasure Park and the Thainstone Centre, Inverurie.

The Oldmeldrum event will start from 6.30pm and although entry is free, donations will be welcomed.

Gates to the Inverurie event open at 5.30pm, the bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm and the firework display by Fireworks Scotland will begin at 7pm.

The Inverurie event has been organised by volunteers from Inverurie and District Round Table and is completely funded by donations received from the public.

A minimum donation of £5 per car or £1 per pedestrian would be welcomed.

Another firework display will be held on Sunday, November 6 at Tarves to the west end of the village, it too is a free display with donations welcome.

There will be free soup and hot dogs served from 6.30pm.
