LOCAL Postie and fundraiser Graham Watson held a Charity Darts Exhibition on Saturday, May 4, in the Royal British Legion Inverurie.

Three Professional darts players Gary Robson, Darryl Fitton and Tony O’Shea were guests for the evening and played against local players chosen to challenge them.

There was a very good crowd at the Legion and they all played their part by joining in with the walk-on music and cheering on the challengers and trying their best to put the pros, who responded well to the banter and trying to contain their laughter at what was going on.

Graham said, “I would really like to say a big thank you to the main sponsor for the evening Fetternear Fruit, and also all the other sponsors, Aberdeen Tyres, Anderson Oil & Gas, Garioch Kitchens, F & S Don (Property Maintenance), Geoff Kendrick Plumber, Kemnay Autobody, Yvonne Moir (Property Services), and the Royal British Legion Scotland.

“I’d also like to thank The Strathburn Hotel for the accommodation for the Pros, and the Black Bull Inn for the same thing for the stage crew. Also all the helpers on the day especially Marlene, my wife, as she has had to put up with me and trying to keep me sane whilst organising this event, the bar staff did a great job too. My thanks also go to Elaine Kearns from Aberdeen who came along and was the MC for the evening. Without all their efforts I wouldn’t have been able to do this event.”

During the interval there was an auction and at the end of the evening the raffle was drawn, with both making a considerable amount of money for the charity Breast Cancer Care. In the second half of the event each of the pros were “auctioned off” to potential players which also raised a healthy sum of money.

At the end of the night Graham presented MC Elaine with a bunch of flowers as a thank you, and presented each of Professionals with a trophy specially designed for the evening as reminder of their visit to Inverurie.

The total sum raised for Breast Cancer Care on the night was a massive £2017 this will be added to whatever is raised at Graham’s 8th Annual Inverurie Charity Darts Open (sponsored by GPH) which again will be held in the Royal British Legion, Inverurie on Saturday, May 25.
