The Rotary club of Inverurie is seeking nominations from young professionals or business people in the local area to take part in an exchange programme to the USA next summer.

The Rotary Group Study Exchange is a programme supported by the Rotary Foundation. The programme is designed to develop professional and leadership skills so that the team members can address the needs of their communities and an increasingly global workplace. Team members are hosted by Rotarians and all major expenses are met by Rotary Foundation.

The exchange, which is set to take place between Saturday 11 May and Saturday 8 June 2013, is open to any young business person or professional person living in or working in the Inverurie area who may be interested in taking part.

Visiting the state of Pennsylvania, the exchange will provide opportunities to observe vocations as practised in another country; cultural experiences and fellowship opportunities, considering each others problems, aspirations and community concerns along with fostering lasting friendships and international understanding.

Team members must be aged between 25 – 40 and employed full-time in a recognised profession. They must also be enthusiastic about their chosen vocation, comfortable working as part of a team and not be a Rotarian or a close relation.

“Exchange team members can come from large organisations, small businesses, community organisations, medical and educational facilities, government offices and non profit organisations”, said Mike Barron, Group Study Exchange co-ordinator for the Inverurie Rotary Club. “Previous participants have benefited through increased self confidence, new ideas, friendships, greater appreciation and tolerance of others, and become better communicators.”

Anyone interested in being considered to take part in the exchange should contact Mike Barron on 01467 624333 or by e mail to Michael.barron1@btopenworld.com, who will provide further information and an application form. Applications need to be in before the end of June as local interviews will be held in mid July. Successful candidates will go forward to a final interview in August by office bearers of Rotary District 1010 (Scotland).
