GRAMPIAN Police are investigating a fire that occurred on Wednesday, July 16 at Petmathen, between Oyne and Old Rayne.
Police believe the fire was started deliberately at around 1pm and have urged the public to report any suspicious activity around that time.
As a result of the fire, 400 bales and a number of bags of fertiliser were completely destroyed, as well
as the barn in which they were stored.
The property is visible from the main A96 Inverness to Aberdeen road at Pitmachie. Grampian Police are keen to trace a male seen walking his dog near the location around the time of the fire.
They would also like to trace the owner of a black 4x4 vehicle that was spotted near the scene around the time of the incident.
Investigating Officer, Detective Constable Stephen Beattie said: "Thankfully no-one was injured as a direct result of this fire. However, whoever is responsible has shown an utter disregard for their actions and the safety of others, not to mention the financial losses which will have to be incurred by the owner of the property."
Anyone with information regarding this incident and any persons responsible, is asked to contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5 700, or if wishing to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
