The Gordon Art Exhibition running from Friday, February 29 until Tuesday March 4 is returning to Inverurie Town Hall after its temporary move while the hall was being refurbished last year.
Acceptance Day for the 2008 exhibition, organised by Gordon Forum for the Arts is Sunday, February 24 and a good number of entries are anticipated this year. There has been a steady demand for hanging labels for exhibits, and, as is usual, many inqui
ries from new exhibitors.

June Hidalgo, Exhibition Team Leader said: "I am always pleased to welcome new exhibitors as this keeps the selection fresh and interesting. It adds to the wide variety of media used by those showing their works.

"There is always a wide range of exhibits from both amateur and professional artists of all ages, with paintings, drawings and prints in oils and watercolours, pencil and ink, and acrylics. And photographs – just about anything, in fact, that will make marks on paper, canvas or woods and metals – and of course there are always works in glass and textiles.

"The sculptures and other three-dimensional objects show the same variety, with everything from jewellery and precious metals, to carved and turned wood, and ceramics of all kinds.

"My favourites are often objects made from 'found' materials like driftwood, or industrial discards and the originality shown by artists never ceases to amaze me."

The exhibition will be open each day from 10am to 5pm. Entry to the exhibition is free. Many of the exhibits are for sale and provide a good opportunity for people to buy original works of art at very reasonable prices. Unframed works are also available for purchase fro the cribs.

Also on during the weekend will be life drawing classes, which still have places available. Contact Neil Russell on (01651) 873081 to book a place.
