GRAMPIAN Police have confirmed that there are no suspicious circumstances after a man's body was found in Inverurie last week.
The 41 year old was discovered by a member of the public in a wooded area off the town's Blackhall Road at around 7am on Thursday (November 26). It is believed the man was sleeping rough in the area and froze to death.

Police activity at the scene shocked local residents, some of whom had been unaware of the incident until officers arrived near the area. A cordon was set up and forensic officers also attended the scene.

One resident, who asked not to be named, said: "It's horrible to think that someone was lying there so close to people's houses and yet we knew nothing about it. The police were visiting all the houses nearby but no one I know saw or heard a thing."

Another nearby resident said: "I got up on Thursday morning and there was an awful lot of police activity going on. I had no idea what it was but assumed there must have been a car accident. It's a great shame that someone has lost their life."

Police revealed this week that the man is from Latvia and that formal identification has yet to take place.
