AN Oldmeldrum policeman and his colleague are to take part in what is being billed as Scotland's toughest one-day sporting event.
The challenge of the Artemis Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon is being undertaken by 34 year-old Davie Threadgold and his colleague Norman McGlashan (43) from Westhill.

The fitness challenge involves a one-mile swim, kayaking seven miles, running 15
miles over seven munros and a 34 mile cycle, all in one day. The duo will be raising money for the Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).

On Saturday, July 11, Davie and Norman will aim to complete the gruelling course that takes place in and around the stunning scenery of Loch Tay in the Scottish Highlands.

Davie said: "I was inspired to enter the Quadrathlon after seeing it featured on television, to test my stamina, strength and fitness to the limit. I have raised money for CHAS previously through the Diced Cap Charitable Trust and was fortunate to visit Rachel House Hospice in Kinross.

"Knowing the struggles that the children and young people at CHAS have to face on a daily basis will definitely make me all the more determined to complete the course."

Margo Shearer-Smith, Regional Fundraising Manager, CHAS, said: "The determination of Davie and Norman to undertake this immense challenge and raise money at the same time is inspirational. Every pound they raise will help CHAS to fund our vital hospice services for children and young people who have life limiting conditions throughout Scotland."

Davie and Norman hope to raise £2,000 for CHAS. To sponsor them visit http://www.justgiving.com/dicedcap or contact the CHAS office to find out what fundraising events the team have planned.

InterMoor, a mooring solutions service provider, is proud to be the main sponsor for the duo, who would both like to express their thanks. They would also like to thank Tern TV, Craigdon Mountain Sports and Aberdeen Water Sports for their generous donations of exercise clothing, wetsuits and financial support.

For further information on CHAS, call (01224) 645000 or visit www.chas.org.uk.
