THE Inverurie Best Garden 2008 Awards, organised by Inverurie Environmental Improvement Group (IEI) will be presented at the annual Inverurie Flower Show on Saturday, September 6 from 2pm at Inverurie Town Hall.
And the winners were announced by the organisers this week.

Mr and Mrs Bruce Middleton have clinched the overall prize again after their success last year, scooping the Best Garden Award 2008, having impressed the judges with their floral display
in the Large Front Garden section.

Ranald Allan, Chairman IEI, said: "The standard of entries was extremely high, as always, which made judging hard. The number of entries was up on 2007, which was very encouraging.

The guest judge, this year, was Damon Powell, head gardener at Castle Fraser. He commented: "I was most impressed with the high standard of entries. The gardens reflect great effort and it was difficult to single out winners in some categories."

The 2008 Small Front Garden section winner was Mr David Halliday, who had also enjoyed a repeat of his success in 2007, as had the Malcolm Allan showhouse garden, with a different design from the winning entry last year.

Results are as follows:
Small Front Garden - David Halliday, George Square. Large Front Garden - Phyllis and Bruce Middleton, Cunninghill Avenue. Best Individual Container - A and E McWilliam, Strathburn Gardens, Inverurie. Best Business Premises - Malcolm Allan Showhouse, John Sorrie Drive, Highclere. Best Non-commercial Premises - Playfauld Sheltered Housing Complex, Bainzie Road. Best Garden Award 2008 - Mr and Mrs Bruce Middleton, Cunninghill Avenue.
