THE campaign for a new Inverurie Health Centre, to be called the Garioch Life Centre, got a boost on Friday when Don House residents signed letters of support.
The letters will be sent to Aberdeenshire Council in advance of the committee meeting to consider the application. A new plan was submitted to the council earlier this month and supporters don't want it to fail through lack of support.

The propos
ed Life Centre would bring a number of local health services together under one roof and provide space for supporting therapists, a snack bar, exhibition area and retail units.

Bert Hosie said: "The DPPG would like people to write to their councillors and to the council in support of the proposal. It is not acceptable that the fastest growing town in Scotland has to rely on an out-of-date health centre which has been temporarily extended with prefabricated units."

The DPPG have also launched a website at www.gariochlifecentre.co.uk. The site features the DPPG's reasons why they believe Inverurie needs a replacement for the existing Health Centre and features drawings of the proposed Life Centre and a documentary film produced by the DPPG featuring campaign leader Bert Hosie conducting an interview with local GP Dr Jim Beattie.

Bert Hosie commented: "With this application we want to ensure that everyone has access to information about the proposed Garioch Life Centre and we are encouraging them to comment, hopefully positively, to the council."

The DPPG is made up of ten members of the public from the Inverurie Health Centre's patient list and two GPs from the centre.
