The head instructor of Garioch Kettlebells has proved once again that age is no barrier by putting in an awesome performance at the WKC UK Kettlebell Pentathlon Open.

In the process, he managed to increase his UK record points score of 1645 (obtained at the Scottish open 2014) to smash through the 1700 barrier with a final points total of 1729.25.
Alan is head instructor of Garioch Kettlebells based at Garioch Sports Centre where, through his and his team of Kettlebell instructors’ hard work, supported positively by the Garioch Sports Trust, their Kettlebell fitness classes have developed into a very popular activity with three timetabled sessions per week all being regularly over-subscribed.
Classes are based on the principles of Russian Kettlebell training and taught under the banner of the International Kettlebell Fitness Federation.

Alan came out overall top of the men’s field with his amazing score, with the nearest runner up Paul Eaton on1484 points and Allan Holburn from sister club Forth Valley Kettlebells reaching 1421 points.
Speaking after the event Alan said: “I am extremely pleased to have achieved this success retaining my UK title, especially given the calibre of the lifters at the event who have also improved immensely over the last year.
“I am now looking forward to training with the Garioch Kettlebells team to prepare for the Scottish Open at Forth Valley in May.”
He added: ”Kettlebell training has really taken off in Garioch and we have an incredible demand for class spaces with new people joining in all the time.
“The Garioch Sports Trust have been excellent in their support, nurturing the expansion of the activity over the last year and we look forward to this continuing through 2015.
“Kettlebells are a great tool for improving core strength and general fitness and participants see significant sustained benefits over a period of time and the classes are great fun and very rewarding.”
