Around the N-east rurals

At the May meeting of Premnay SWRI Pat Duncan presided and after business welcomed Brenda Duncan from Aberdeen.

Brenda demonstrated how to make boxes from cylinders using wool and adding tops and bottoms. She created beautiful coloured boxes showing her wonderful skills in embroidery.

After tea the competition were judged as follows:

Trinket Box: 1: Morna Munro; 2: Brenda Bird; 3: Ann McPherson

Something New from Something Old: 1: Morna Munro; 2: Lyn Lawrence; 3: Evie Morgan

Winner of Flower of the Month: Brenda Bird.

On Thursday,( May 1) Culsalmond SWRI and guests were treated to a wonderful evening of music and song performed by Marisha and Jim Addison. A very varied programme of well-known favourites, Scottish, humorous and jazz standards amongst others, had everyone singing along, whether invited to or not! Marisha and Jim managed to create such a happy atmosphere that everyone went home with a spring in their step. A welcome interval tea was provided and served by members of the committee.

Helen Thomson presided and welcomed members and the guest speaker to Auchnagatt SWRI’s May meeting.

The speaker for the evening was John Sorrie, from Ola Oils near Inverurie.

He explained all about the company and their award-winning range of products. A display of their products proved very popular, with members purchasing many items.

An enjoyable tea followed and the raffle was drawn.

An appreciative vote of thanks was given by Caroline Harlow before Helen brought an enjoyable evening to a close.
