Plans for a major community and employment development near Balmedie will go before the public for the first time next week.
The site at Blackdog, east of the A90 trunk road and on the junction of the new Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route, is in the ‘Energetica corridor’, a 30-mile long development zone stretching from Aberdeen to Peterhead, which is fast becoming a global hub for the energy sector.

A public exhibition will be held on Tuesday, October 27. from 2-8pm at the White Horse Inn, Balmedie, with members of the public invited to attend to learn more and ask questions about the project.
The £140 million scheme, which is to be developed by Ashfield Land and Kirkwood Homes, will include 600 homes and a mixed use development that will extend to around 600,000 sq ft and will include up to 400,000 sq ft of business space, 200,000 sq ft of retail and leisure and associated low carbon infrastructure.
Local people are being are being urged to attend the exhibition to hear from experts from the project team.
Steven McGarva, director of Ashfield Land, said: “The land at Blackdog has been identified in the Local Development Plan as a major site for development with our plans delivering a new community comprising residential, employment, town centre and community uses.
“We expect the proposals to create a significant number of jobs in the area, both during the construction phase as well as in the long-term acting as an economic catalyst for the local and regional economies.”
Allan Rae, director of Kirkwood Homes, added: “We are keen to engage closely with as broad a cross-section of the local community as possible throughout the planning and construction process.
“This will include extensive consultation with local people, businesses, elected officials, local skills providers and others.”
