It’s Business as usual at Filpumps after a friendly MBO (management buy out) which took place recently.

Located at the company’s Thainstone Business Park headquarters, the company is now led by General Manager, Ian Grierson and is co-owned by Martin Booth and Russell Mann. The three-man MBO will enable the founders of the business to retire.

Ian, Martin and Russell have all worked with the company and, together, make up over 30 years combined sales experience with the firm.

Filpumps was set up in 1992 by Bob Mann and Ken Gordon in Oldmeldrum to meet demand for a new type of pioneering pump for private water supplies. Filpumps pioneered the development of groundbreaking new technologies in the treatment of drinking water to new EC Regulations and to also meet the environmental pressures for novel forms of industrial effluent and sewage treatment to satisfy legislation.

A second facility was opened in Blackburn during 2001, before combining both at the current purpose built facility at Thainstone in 2007.

Over the years the company has built up considerable experience in the private water industry which has allowed the business to expand its coverage with bespoke projects throughout the whole of Scotland.

The current staffing level is over 30, of which a third are trained engineers.

The MBO team have ambitious plans for the future. Filpump’s general manager, Ian Grierson said: “We hope to create new jobs for the local community by expanding our service activities.

“We are involved in pumping and water treatment on private water supplies and we take our responsibilities very seriously - providing our customers with a clean and safe drinking water supply.”

A strong sense of customer care is particularly important to Filpumps and the company places a strong emphasis on staff training to continue to maintain an effective service to both customers and its suppliers. The new management team are committed to continuing and further improving the individual attention and service provided.

The friendly nature of the MBO means that continuity is maintained in the Filpumps supply chain and in-service delivery, and the new management team looks forward to the continued support from their excellent and loyal customer base and providing the individual service their customers require.
