Members of the Garioch Area Committee have agreed to grant planning permission in principle for the long planned development at Crichie Farm near Thainstone, Inverurie.
The development had been deferred to allow members of the committee to visit the site prior to their latest meeting on Tuesday, (August 26).
Although the members agreed to delegate authority to the Head of Planning and Building Standards they asked that right for any changes or alterations in conditions to be reported back to the Garioch Area Committee for decision, which was agreed by the Head of Planning.
The development includes 737 new houses, a new primary school, retail space and community facilities.
The development was subject to five letters of representation objecting to the proposals.
Committee members also asked that the developer Crichie Developments Ltd ensure that affordable housing is given priority in the scheduled housing phases.
The development seeks to “reduce dependency on the private car”, and would feature a “comprehensive network of cycling and walking routes” and highlighted the proximity of Inverurie Railway Station.
