Ellon is counting down to its Hogmanay spectacular.
Final preparations are nearing completion for Gig at the Brig 2013, which is expected to attract more than 2000 people to the town centre.
The inaugural Hogmanay street party has been organised by Ellon Events and will take place in Market Street.
Spokesman Kevin Coghill told the Times: “Over recent weeks tickets have been selling well.
“Ellon has woken up to what is happening and at current rates we are looking at a 2000-plus crowd and this is not taking into account the anticipated last-minute rush that many are predicting we will see. The Ellon Event’s committee are delighted that they’ve managed to attract such a high-quality line up of acts to the town and are confident the calibre of performer will eclipse that which will be seen at many other similar, yet longer established, events across Scotland.”
The Gig will be headlined by Pitmedden’s Terry McDermott - who has taken the USA by storm - and his band the Bonfires.
Casino Circus, Silver City Soul Review and Jake Coghill are also on the bill.
The festivities will kick-off at 7pm and are due to run until 1am. The programme of entertainment will also include Ellon Royal British Legion pipe band and a fireworks display to take in the New Year. There will also be a beer tent and food available.
Kevin said: “We’d like to thank members of the local business communities and further afield who have assisted and supported us and all the others who in many ways both large and small have helped us make this happen.
“We would appeal to the people of Ellon to come out and support this event, our town deserves to have an event to rival anything else out there and with their support in simply attending we’ll endeavour to provide exactly that.”
