Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 2,338 store lambs, island sheep, breeding sheep, feeding ewes and rams on Friday last week.

New season store lambs (624) sold to £77 for Texel lambs from Nether Anguston, Peterculter.

Island sheep (915) sold to £84 for Cheviot ewes from 18 South Galson, Isle of Lewis. Breeding sheep (263) sold to £140 for Texel gimmers from Nether Anguston. Feeding ewes, and rams (536) averaged £51.39 (-£4.63) and sold to £105 for a Suffolk ram from Mid Mains of Balfour, Fettercairn.

A spokesperson said: ‘Top end store lambs again met an excellent demand. Feeding ewes were a lighter show selling at similar rates.”

Island lambs: Texx - East Gate, East Burrafirth £80.50.
