The Collieston and Slains WRI meeting held last month passed quickly with business, thanking all involved in a recent fundraiser which made almost £400, organising the corporate entry for March’s Ellon Bulb Show and a later trip to Perth Races.

Speaker Paula Hawthorn was welcomed of the New Life Home Trust which helps fund the work of a baby rescue home in Nairobi, Kenya. She gave a moving presentation outlining the work of the home and some of the real-life stories. Paula holds parties and classes making jewellery with Kenyan Kazuri beads, which had been made and painted by the single mothers of the community, and all the money going towards special projects which help the community. The evening was rounded off with a delicious spread provided by Chris and Nora.
