Cash boost for local fundraising efforts

The Bennachie Leisure Centre and the Lawrence Hall Committee are to receive cash to boost their fund raising activities as part of the 100 day pledge by the Aberdeenshire Alliance.

The Bennachie Leisure Centre will receive £75,000 towards improvements to the centre’s facilities and to help safeguard its future.

West Garioch Councillor Sheena Lonchay said: “I was so pleased to support the funding for the Bennachie Leisure Centre and look forward to the plans coming to fruition over the coming months. The Insch area is very fortunate to have such a fantastic facility and I hope that local residents continue to support it.”

Lawrence Hall in Old Rayne is set to receive a contribution £15,000 towards improving insulation and heating. Councillor Pat Oddie said: “The Lawrence Hall is a very important place in the life of Old Rayne and I am delighted that work can now go ahead on the improvements”.

Over £3 million has been assigned immediately to projects throughout Aberdeenshire with a further £1.9 million to be made available in the next financial year. In addition, the Aberdeenshire Alliance has earmarked £1.5 million to assist local businesses and boost tourism and £2.3 million pledged for affordable housing and the replacement of schools and care home
