A Grampian Police officer has kick-started a unique 3300 mile motorcycle trip around the country in a bid to raise money for injured Royal Marine Commandos.
The sponsored 10 day journey departed from Aberdeen on Monday and will see PC Mark Robinson collecting donations at every police headquarters in the UK before being met by the charity Commando999’s ambassador, television personality, Lorraine Kelly at the final stop in London.
In addition to visiting Britain’s 51 Police HQ’s, Mark will also call a 10 Downing Street, Royal Marine bases and RM Hasler in Plymouth where he will meet some of the brave men the money raised will go towards helping.
The Westhill based officer, will travel an average of 330 miles a day on a modified police motorbike.
Constable Robinson said: “As police officers, we do have a dangerous job but not normally one which puts our lives in danger on a daily basis. I say goodbye to my family each day, knowing I’ll be home after work.
“The charitable work of Commando999 offers these brave men some assurance that they and their families will be looked after should the worst happen.”
