Local organisations, groups and schools have been gearing up for Christmas throughout Formartine and Garioch across the last few weeks.

Two homes in Ellon were treated to carol singing by a local childminding group in the run up to Christmas.

Ythan Childminding Group visited Bonnyton Home and Ythanvale Home to perform after receiving such positive feedback when they held similar events earlier on in the year.

Group chairperson Zoe Sadler said “All the childminders and some of the children wore Christmas jumpers and we sang a variety of Christmas songs.

“Jim accompanied us with his guitar which was a great hit with the residents.

“Both homes have given lots of positive feedback. There were lots of smiling faces from residents, staff and the children and we hope to do similar events next year.”

Meanwhile the pupils at Auchnagatt School enjoyed a visit to Santa’s Grotto situated in their playground.

Pupils had a meet and greet with Mr Claus before heading to the hall where a retirement presentation was held for school cook Alison Finnie.

Parkinsons UK Garioch Support Branch held their annual lunch at the Strathburn Hotel, Inverurie.

The event was organised by Winnie and Sam Reid who recently celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary and it was an opportunity for Chairperson Joy Doorghen to present them both with flowers on behalf of the members.

There were a host of Christmas Fairs in the run up to the festive season including the Inverurie Academy S3 Enterprise Christmas Fair which featured a host of stalls and Christmas gifts and also the Victorian Market in Inverurie Town Hall.
