COLONY Park FC coach Alan Calder recently competed the London Marathon raising over £3000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Alan, from Inverurie, trained hard for the event and achieved the fantastic time of 3hrs 41mins and 27 seconds. He said “All my cold weather training certainly paid off on the morning of the marathon as it was a freezing cold start but I certainly wasn’t used to the sunshine that appeared after that.”

He added, “I’d like pass on a thank you to everyone who has supported me whether that be moral, financial or even just beeping their horn as I ran past in a few inches of snow!” His father Roy’s band “4 Way Street” played a gig on Roy’s 60th birthday raising £575 towards Alan’s total.

“Lots of people told me that training and running for a marathon would become addictive! They were lying!”
