An Ellon and District Councillor contacted BEAR Scotland after the River Ythan secretary wrote in to The Ellon Times over concerns surrounding Japanese Knotweed on the river banks in Foveran.
Councillor Gillian Owen said: “My contact at Bear Scotland said: ‘In terms of the Japanese Knotweed, we are aware of its presence and the management/removal of this will form part of the final proposals for this location.
“I have made the necessary arrangements to have additional fencing installed in this area’.”
Councillor Owen replied to the email saying: “with the rain the burn is swelling and the sooner a solution is found the better.
“I also look forward to seeing the extra railings which can only improve on safety.”
