A 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with eleven break-ins and thefts in the North-east in recent weeks, Police Scotland have confirmed.

The incidents include the theft of photographic and computer equipment from an architecture company in the Inverurie area in March, and the theft of tools and equipment from two builders merchants in the same month.

The male has also been charged with nine driving offences including the theft of license plates and the theft of fuel.

Garioch Area Inspector Jon Millar said: “I would like to thank the public who have provided us with invaluable assistance and information throughout these inquiries.”

He added: “I would also like to take this opportunity to remind the public to always be vigilant when it comes to their valuables, and to ensure their businesses, homes, garages and vehicles are always locked and secure.

“With the lighter nights, I would urge people to always ensure you secure your doors - front and back - even if you are at home or in the garden. Please take simple steps like using good quality locks to reduce your chances of becoming a victim of crime.

“To report any suspicious behaviour, or if you have any concerns, please contact police on 101 or if you wish to remain anonymous contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
