Woman mugged and robbed in North Rayne

GRAMPIAN Police are investigating an incident in the North Rayne area where a 47-year-old Buckie woman was mugged and robbed.

The woman, who was in a red Volkswagen, was approached by a white male.

Following a struggle, the male stole items of jewellery from her, including a necklace and an engagement ring as well as a mobile phone and purse, before making off on foot.

The incident occurred about 12.30pm on Monday, February 21 on the unclassified road between North Rayne School and Loanhead, at the junction leading to the Mains of Loanhead.

The male is described of slim build and being approximately 5’6” tall. He was wearing a dark hooded top with a distinctive, light coloured, tribal style motif on the back, and dark jeans.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Stuart McAdam said: “This is a particularly unusual crime to have occurred in this area.

“The victim was left shaken, but not injured. I would ask that anyone who has any information at all regarding this crime, or think they may know who the male is to contact the Police on 0845 600 5 700 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
