A Formartine playgroup, saved from closure last year, has received a funding boost.

Housebuilders Bancon Homes have donated £1000 to Tarves Playgroup.

The group faced closure a year ago but its future has been secured thanks to council funding, community spirit and support from businesses.

Playgroup manager Michelle Kennedy said: “It is thanks to generous donations like this that the playgroup is now thriving with around 30 children attending each week.

“We continue to maintain a safe and pleasurable place for our children to play in but unfortunately our outdoor space is far from ideal at present.

“We are currently required to put up a secure fence around the play garden with a gate for disabled access on the roadside.” It is a major project and Michelle contacted Bancon, who are developing in Tarves, outlining the playgroup’s funding problem.

She added: “We are very grateful for the financial support we have received from the company to help with this project.

“We hope to see continued development and growth at the playgroup.”

Bancon’s sales and marketing manager Shona Davidson said: “Our Braiklay View development in Tarves will be home to many families with young children who will benefit from the playgroup facility.

“At Bancon Homes we are always keen to contribute to the communities we are involved in wherever we can and we have been delighted to support Tarves Playgroup and play a small part in such a great project.”
