ABERDEEN College is hosting an Information Day at its Inverurie Learning Centre on Thursday, August 16, from 2pm – 7pm. Members of the public are invited to come along to find out about the wide range of part-time courses on offer. There will also be an opportunity to see the high-quality facilities at the Centre, which is located on West Church Lane.
Courses from a diverse range of subjects including Art, Beauty Care, Digital Photography, First Aid, Languages, Flower Arranging and Computing are on offer at the Centre from the end of August. For those interested in psychology, introductory courses are also available. One day REHIS food hygiene courses will run in October, January and March for those involved in food handling.
One of the brand new evening classes this session is Creative Textile Techniques. This course will teach participants hand and machine stitching techniques to enable them to decorate and embellish paper and textiles. Costume Jewellery Making will help to inspire anyone who wants to show off their own creative style.
Many people attend the centre to learn a new skill or hobby and meet like-minded people while others use it as a stepping stone to further study. Former Learning Centre student Ashley Noble, from Sauchen, began by attending a part-time computer maintenance course and is now a full-time student at Aberdeen College’s Gallowgate Centre (read her story on this page).
The Aberdeen College part-time guide can be obtained from the Inverurie Learning Centre or downloaded from www.abcol.ac.uk. Course bookings can be made at the Centre on (01467) 623651.
