Ellon Academy is gearing up for its highly-popular “Evening of Entertainment” later this month.
The fourth showcase of school talent will take place in the academy hall on Friday, September 26.
The event has become a “must” for the local community and during the evening former and current pupils work together to provide service and entertainment for up to 200 guests.
This year’s entertainment includes the band Casino Circus, Katie Jones, Eilen Reece - all former pupils, choreographed dancers (current pupils) and two special guests from Aberdeen.
They are Ryan Peacock, who was a drama student at Ellon Academy, and Joanne Smith, a history teacher who supported pupils in SFL for a short period of time.
Music teacher Helen O’Brien, a driving force behind the event, told the Times: “Preparations are going very well. We have a strong committee with each member of staff taking responsibility for a particular area.
“This has enabled us to use our individual strengths to achieve and maintain high standards consistently over the four years that we have put on this event. We are extremely grateful to our sponsors.”
She added : “Each year we try to add something a little different to keep it fresh and to avoid predictability for our returning guests.
“To that end, our colour theme differs annually, and this year we have a “quirky” addition for our guests to win prizes. Tickets cost £30 and anyone wanting to inquire about their availability should contact Helen at the school.
Most of the tables have been sold and there are reservations on those not paid for yet.
Throughout the evening, which also feature a licensed bar, there will be several fund-raising “activities” with an auction led by local jeweller Kevin Reid, from K&C Jewellers.
