Formartine Community Safety Group members bid farewell to their Community Safety Team Leader this month who is due to retire after many years with Aberdeenshire Council.

Kate Rigby was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a gift token at a group meeting in Ellon recently.

Chair of Formartine Community Safety Group, Ben Ewen of Turriff, presented Kate with her gift.

He said: “Kate Rigby has been a stalwart for the community safety groups in Aberdeenshire.

“Although I have only known Kate for a couple of years since taking up this post, she has been a great help to me and has given me good and sound advice.

“She will be sorely missed by all the community safety groups throughout Aberdeenshire and will be a hard act to follow!”

Kate said: “It has been so good to work with the Formartine Community Safety Group over the years and I have found working with people who want to make a difference in their local area a real pleasure.”

Ellon Community Safety Group member, Moira Muir, said: “I have known Kate in various capacities since mid 1990’s when I began an association with Ellon Community Council. Around two years ago I was delighted to once more have a working relationship with Kate as part of the Formartine Safety Partnership.

“I wish Kate a happy retirement and again thank her for all her help in the community.”

Formartine Area Committee Chair, Councillor Rob Merson, who consistently attends the meetings, concluded: “Kate Rigby has had a very long and distinguished career with Aberdeenshire Council and I wish her a very long and happy retirement.”
