Emily scoops nine golds at Westhill meet

GARIOCH Amateur Swimming Club competed at the two day Westhill Invitational Meet on Saturday, May 7, and Sunday, May 8.

Emily Jones (15) triumphed in all nine of her events to take gold in the 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 freestyle, 400 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 200 IM, 100 IM, 200 butterfly and 400 IM. Emily also attained a new Scottish Age Group record in the 100 breaststroke by clocking a time of 1:10:35.

The following swimmers also won medals:

Age 16 and Over:

Orla Adams (16): gold 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, 200 backstroke and 200 IM; silver 100 backstroke; bronze 50 breaststroke and 400 IM

Sarah Smith (16): gold 200 butterfly; silver 100 butterfly

David Smith (18): silver 200 butterfly

Age 12-13 years:

Joseph Miley (13): gold 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly; silver 200 freestyle, 200 IM, 200 backstroke and 100 backstroke; bronze 100 breaststroke

Jemma Grant (13): bronze 100 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 200 IM and 200 butterfly

Emily, David, Joseph and Jemma also reached the Russian Roulette Medley Final where they came third.

Ruth Bryce, Molly Carlier, Shannon Crawford, Findlay Douglas, Abbey Freer, Peter Holmes, Hazel Johnston, Josephine Laing, Nicole Mowat and Jessica Thomson continued to improve on their personal best times making the meet an overall success.
