Arrangements have been announced for refuse and recycling collections in Aberdeenshire over the festive period.
Most uplifts will continue as normal except for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, which will be collected the following Saturday.
Collections due on Christmas Day will now be on Saturday, December 27, and collections due on New Year’s Day will now be on Saturday, January 3. Friday, December 26, and January 2 will be collected as normal in most areas.
However residents in Westhill, Skene, Hatton of Fintray and Kinmuck will have their refuse and recycling collected the following Mondays (Dec 29 and Jan 5).
All Household Waste and Recycling Centres will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day and January 2.
Postcards have been sent to all households in affected areas, detailing their individual collections.
All other collections will take place on the usual days.
This year 96,000 households in Aberdeesnhire will be able to recycle their leftover turkey and vegetables using the new food waste service, making it easier to recycle over the festive period.
The new recycling service accepts many materials which could not be recycled at the kerbside this time last year.
Used wrapping paper, brown cardboard boxes, plastic trays can now be put together into recycling bins.
