An Aberdeenshire nature reserve is in the running for a leading UK tourism accolade.
Forvie Visitor Centre has been shortlisted in the category of Best Nature Reserve and is in line for a prestigious Goldstar Award from Green Tourism.
The environmentally-conscious reserve at Collieston has been nominated for its commitment to sustainability.
Now in their fourth year, the Green Tourism awards aim to honour businesses and organisations that have done the most to promote sustainability by bringing in cost-saving practices that help the environment and improve customer service.
The Forvie NNR is the only local contender to reach the final and will face competition from 36 businesses from England, 21 others from Scotland, one from Wales and one from Northern Ireland.
All were nominated after being assessed for their innovation, cost savings and green ambassadorship.
Andrea Nicholas, Director of Green Tourism, said: “The standard has been exceptionally high this year and every one of the shortlisted finalists have shown a dedicated commitment to providing consumers with great service and value for money while at the same time championing the cause of sustainability.”
The winners in each of the 13 categories will be announced at a special ceremony during the Green Tourism annual conference which will be held on November 10 in Manchester.
