An Ellon councillor has renewed her call for road repairs to be carried out on a local industrial estate.

Concerns have again been raised about potholes at the town’s Balmacassie Business Park.

Now Councillor Gillian Owen is seeking action from owners M Bruce and Partners to resolve the long-running row following fresh complaints from residents about vehicle damage.

Councillor Owen said: “This issue continues to be an exasperating problem and I am receiving more complaints from residents concerning damage to their vehicles.

“I understand that there have been delays because of the installation of the gas main but that is no excuse for the developer not to keep the road in a reasonable state of repair.”

She added: “I have received a full response from officers which clearly states that although they were asked not to put a top surface on until work on the gas main had been completed, that did not preclude them from undertaking repairs.”

Mrs Owen said: “Time and time again I have referred to the surface of the Balmacassie Business Park. Residents have had to zig zag their way through the huge craters and sunken manhole covers.

“The developer has been asked on more than one occasion to ensure that the surface is in a reasonable state.

“This issue has been an ongoing saga for some four years now and it is time action is taken.”
