A top North-east festival was launched last week after the fishing touches were made to its programme.

The launch for SHADES - Haddo Arts Festival 2014 took place last Friday at the grand property.

Running from October 3 to 12, this year’s event has secured support from industry and private trusts.

The programme, which promises to be even better than previous years, features a starry line up to include opera from Scottish Opera, comedy from TV’s Lee Hurst, Jazz from Alison Burns and Trio Red.

Other highlights include classical music performed from Haddo’s Group - HHCOS, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Hebrides Ensemble and world famous pianist Cristina Ortiz.

Events for children will be held, including ‘Lost property’ - a hilarious show from Tweedy the Clown.

Acclaimed artist Paul Ritchie will form part of an exhibition, sound sculptures provided by Dr Ross Whyte will be dotted in and around the property and beautiful photographs of Haddo and its surroundings can be viewed by Sally McPherson.

Top vocal coach Mary King will offer workshops, as will poet Dorothy Baird and the RSNO and many more.

Tickets can be bought online at www.haddoartsfestival.org.uk or by phone on 08448 700887.

Non ticket related enquiries can be made on 07501 598092 Monday – Friday 10am – 2pm.
