Elsie Murray presided at the Fetternear September meeting and after business handed over to John and Teresa Shewell of the Aberdeen branch of the Family History Society.
Teresa gave a very interesting talk with slides on how to get started compiling your family tree with helpful hints on where to find information.
Birth and death certificates, Parish records and even gravestones were rich sources of information.
Margaret Green and Olive Laird of Bourtie WRI kindly judged the competitions for the Elma Riddell Plate.
Competition winners were as follows: Three rock cakes: Lorna Skea, Margaret Salter, Dorothy Grant.
Individual sweet: Margaret Salter, Elsie Murray, Lorna Skea.
The winner of the Elma Riddell plate was Lorna Skea.
John Shewell judged the Flower of the Month: Dorothy Grant, Lorna Skea, Elsie Murray.
Iris Keith ran the raffle and teas were served by Betty Lawie and Elma Riddell read the letter from their counterparts in New Zealand.
The evening closed with a comprehensive vote of thanks by Margaret Salter.
