MSP promotes sun awareness

North-east SNP MSP Mark McDonald has signed Melanoma Action and Support Scotland’s (MASScot) ‘Keeping Safe in the Sun’ campaign to help raise awareness of the dangers of the sun and to avoid skin cancers.

MASScot asked the MSPs to consider a public education campaign to prevent skin cancers by avoiding sunburn and to make people aware of the early signs of skin cancer and the dangers of sunbed use.

Commenting after the event, Mr McDonald said “MASScot’s campaign to raise awareness of the dangers involved with sunbathing and sunbeds is more important now than ever, especially with regards to young people. It is essential that people are well informed on how to protect themselves and cover up in order to prevent skin cancers”.
