With less than ten weeks to go to the 2012 Specsavers Run Garioch, Inverurie businesses are being encouraged to enter teams into the first ever Inverurie Business Challenge.

Les Enfants Nursery were quick to latch on to the new format team 10K and were the first to put teams - five in total - forward for the event, and, none had ever run a 10K before.

Claire Edwards, general manager of Les Enfants said they had all been to the first of the ‘Ten Weeks to run Garioch’ training sessions in which they began by running for one minute followed by brisk walking for a further two. She commented: “We want to raise money for Capability Scotland, a charity supporting the inclusion of children with additional support needs into mainstream childcare.

“We’ve worked closely with Capability Scotland locally and we wanted to support a charity that was local to Aberdeenshire and Inverurie. I asked my colleagues if they were up for the challenge, and they were all really keen. We are putting five teams forward.”

Stuart Gordon, Garioch Sports Centre’s general manager expressed his delight and said: “We are thrilled that Les Enfants are the first to sign up for the 2012 10K Inverurie Business Challenge

Capability Scotland representative, Judith Findlay said: “It’s absolutely fantastic. This money is going to enable us to acquire new resources for the children. It’s absolutely amazing and a great start to the new year.”

Teams entering the Run Garioch Inverurie Business Challenge must comprise of four members, mixed or single sex. During the event, only the three quickest times count.
