This year’s Inverurie Annual Literacy and Arts festival “World of Words” is set to get underway tomorrow (Friday).

The festival is organised by Inverurie Events and this year features 11 different events running from tomorrow until Saturday, September 12.

The festival’s aim is to bring the community together.

A Philosophy Cafe discussion on Literature and Controversy led by Dr Dan Wall will kick off the festival’s programme of activities tomorrow night at 7pm in The Acorn Centre.

Inverurie’s comic convention, Inver-Con II, has already sold out for this Saturday.

The Sunday Times top ten bestselling author Matt Lewis will give a talk on his book “Last Man Off” on Saturday, September 5 at 7pm in the Inverurie Library.

There will be a talk on the on the history of the Inverurie Golf Club by J D Miller on Wednesday, September 9 at 7pm in the Golf Club.

On Tuesday, September 8 at 7pm in the Inverurie Loco Works FC Social Club, David Fasken will give a talk on his book “If Goalposts Could Talk”.

Poet John Killick will give two talks on his work involving poetry sessions with dementia sufferers and carers at The Hopeville Social Club on Wednesday, September 9 between 10.30am and noon.

Author John Gordon Sinclair will give a presentation on Saturday, September 12 in The Acorn Centre at 7pm.
