A Kintore club for young footballers has been left counting the cost after its lawnmower was stolen.
Thieves made off with the machinery from the Midmill pitch and officials have made an urgent appeal for its return.
Kintore United Football Club raised £1400 from a football festival in 2015 to buy the mower, a John Deere LT 155.
The club provides facilities for nearly 200 boys and girls aged between five and 17.
The second hand mower had been kept secure at Midmill and the theft was discovered on Sunday, February12.
A club spokesman said: "As you can imagine Kintore is a small close-knit community and enjoys low crime, which makes this recent theft even more upsetting.
"We as a club clearly need to review the security of all our equipment which we have done and at additional costs to us.
"I want to appeal to the North-east community to assist in tracing our lawn mower and highlight the crime for awareness."
"As a club we clearly need a lawnmower to care for our football pitch and our aim is to start a fundraising campaign to purchase a new mower and any assistance would be greatly appreciated."
