Around 100 ladies danced the night away in a bid raise funds for a local event in Ellon recently.

Over £300 was raised during the Chicago Ladies Night held in Victoria Hall in November.

The cash will be contributed to the hall’s Ellon Cinema projector fund.

Chicago was screened for all to enjoy before a have-a-go dance session was held by Jazzercise’s Claire Murray.

Then it was time to dance the night away as a disco hosted by DJ Jenny Angus of Ascension Disco got everyone into full swing.

Organiser Vicki Morgan said that night went ‘very well’.

She told the Times: “Lots of ladies arrived in full “flapper” outfits and were welcomed to tables set out with empty wine bottles covered with “Wanted” posters of Al Capone and Bonny and Clyde, “bank notes” and floral pieces kindly donated by Floral Request.

“The atmosphere was brilliant, lots of people got up and had a dance, many lucky ladies won some fabulous raffle prizes, including a pair of theatre tickets donated by HMT, Christmas hampers and M&S vouchers.” The group are hoping to organise another special cinema event towards the New Year and are currently discussing ideas.

Vicki added: “We’d like to thank everyone who came to the event and for supporting Ellon Cinema and we’re glad it was another success.”
