An Ellon woman is preparing to Brave the Shave for Macmillan Cancer Support next month.
Laura Lunan-Smith will have all of her hair shaved off at Rococo Hair Design by Lindsay Norrie on November 26.
The Ellon Post Office manager decided to take part in the fundraiser in memory of her aunt Heather who sadly passed away recently from cancer, although she admits it’s something she had been considering for a while.
Speaking to the Times, Laura said: “It was only a few weeks ago and really shook us all.
“I wanted to do something for other people battling cancer, raise more awareness of the illness and raise money for Macmillan at the same time for Heather and others it had affected.
“Honestly I’m so nervous about it but ‘braving’ the shave is not even a tenth of the bravery Heather showed during her illness, and through it all she just kept smiling and making us all laugh.”
Laura added: “I hope to raise a few laughs on the day in her memory.”
Laura has set herself a fundraising target of £500 and donations can be made online at bravetheshave.org.uk/shavers/laura-lunan-smith.
Sponsor forms are also available at Ellon Post Office, Ladbrokes, Co-op Meiklemill and J&K Shoes in Ellon.
Members of the public can sign up to Brave the Shave online.
As the Ellon Times went to print a total of 23,433 brave shavers had registered to take part and raised £4,216,475.24 so far.
