Local firm up for prestigious award

An Aberdeenshire organisation dedicated to helping the community has been selected as a finalist for a prestigious community award.

Enterprise North East Trust (Enterprise) has been shortlisted for the Community Award through the Trend Life With Style Awards 2014 in recognition of their impact on the local community.

Enterprise had encouraged other businesses to nominate themselves before realising that there was an award that applied to the work that they do within the community.

The firm’s plans to introduce a world-class centre for entrepreneurship this autumn particularly impressed the judges.

Enterprise chief executive, Gary McEwan, said: “We often urge the lifestyle businesses we work with to apply for the awards but had not identified until this year, the opportunity for Enterprise. We were delighted to see that The Community Award was in existence and felt that it would be a really good fit for us. We have organised The Grampian Awards for Business Excellence for the last 15 years, so it is certainly strange to be on the receiving end.”

The awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 12, at the Marcliffe Hotel and Spa.
